Associates at Carmody & Torrance Complete Over 300 Hours of Pro Bono Serivce in 2012

December 31, 2012

Waterbury (December XX, 2012) --- As part of a longstanding tradition within the firm, attorneys at Carmody & Torrance completed hundreds of hours of pro bono service in 2012. Associates alone logged nearly 350 hours of free legal work for low-income or underserved individuals in the firm’s local communities.

Carmody & Torrance has offered pro bono legal service to the community since its inception over 100 years ago and has a standing policy that supports its attorneys’ pro bono work.

“As lawyers, we feel strongly about equal justice, especially for those who do not have access to legal resources,” said Isabella Squicciarini, chair of the firm’s pro bono committee. “Our attorneys share a commitment to service, and we are grateful for the time and effort they have put into this project.”

The firm partners with various organizations, including Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, Inc. and Lawyers for Children America, to represent clients in various matters, from assisting in security deposit recovery and other civil litigation cases to holding legal clinics for clients representing themselves.

“We are proud of our young attorneys for taking the initiative to serve the community, and we continue to encourage them to use their legal knowledge for the benefit of those in need,” said Managing Partner Brian Henebry.
