Attorney James K. Robertson to Receive Distinguished Graduate Award from UConn Law School Alumni Association

Carmody & Torrance proudly announces that Attorney James K. Robertson, Jr. has been selected as the 2011 recipient of the Distinguished Graduate Award from The University of Connecticut Law School Alumni Association.

Jim has practiced law at Carmody & Torrance for over 35 years and served as its Managing Partner for many years. He litigates intellectual property, commercial, product liability and employment disputes in state and federal and frequently serves as a mediator and arbitrator in probate and corporate governance dis¬putes.

“Jim has deservedly earned his reputation by offering sound, practical and reliable advice and garnering the confidence of his clients,” says Frank Sherer, Senior Vice President at Timex Corporation and long-time client. John L. Cordani, General Counsel at MacDermid Inc. adds, “When litigation is unavoidable, Jim’s experience and knowledge are second to none.”

Among his many distinctions, Jim is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has served as a Superior Court judge, as Chairman of the Connecticut Judicial Selection Commission and currently serves as the national Moderator of the United Church of Christ. His commitment to service is evident through his appointment to many boards, including the Hartford Seminary, the Connecticut Humanities Council and the Mattatuck Museum.

Jim earned a B.A., cum laude, from Yale University in 1970; a J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1974; an M.A. from the Hartford Seminary in 1998; and he studied at the Yale Divinity School and the Yale Law School while on sabbatical in 1999.
