Brian Henebry is a partner and trial lawyer in Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey's litigation department.  Brian is the former Managing Partner of the Firm and led the efforts resulting in the combination of Carmody & Torrance and Sandak, Hennessey & Greco in 2014. He is a member of the firm's litigation practice group, which was named a “highly recommended” Connecticut litigation team in Benchmark Litigation’s Guide To Leading Business Litigation Firms and Attorneys. His litigation work includes a variety of matters for corporations, municipalities, and individuals, including commercial litigation, tax appeals, real estate litigation, products liability and personal injury defense. Brian also does utility siting work before the Connecticut Siting Council and other regulatory agencies.  Brian has been named a "Super Lawyer" by Connecticut Magazine from 2007 to the present.

  • Successfully defended class action claim arising out of statewide electrical outages
  • Successfully defended a municipality at the trial and appellate levels in opposing challenge to constitutionality of the municipality's use of eminent domain to acquire property for economic development
  • Obtained summary judgment in case in which Connecticut Supreme Court affirmed the common law doctrine that defendant owed no duty to a trespasser to its property
  • Successful enforcement of warranty claims against electric cable manufacturer
  • Representation of corporate and individual taxpayers and municipalities in numerous property tax appeals
  • Defense of corporate client in resolving indemnification claims totaling $20 million arising out of sale of corporate division
  • Obtained denial of injunction sought to delay hydraulic drilling operation under Saugatuck River in case involving questions of riparian rights
  • Successfully defended numerous personal injury actions by obtaining jury verdicts and negotiating favorable settlement
  • Successfully defended legal malpractice claim related to prenuptial agreement
  • Part of a team that secured the necessary approvals from the Connecticut Siting Council, Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control, Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in connection with major electric transmission projects
  • Managing Partner of Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey from 2012 to 2015
