May 16, 2018

The 2018 edition of Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business ranks two Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey LLP practice areas and nine attorneys, from our Real Estate, Environment, Litigation and Labor & Employment practices, in the top tiers in Connecticut. Chambers USA is a publication by Chambers and Partners, a third-party research and publishing company, that ranks U.S. Law firms and attorneys based on extensive interviews with clients and members of the legal community.

The publication highlights William J. Hennessey, Jr. under Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use, who is described as a “terrific land use lawyer and a go-to land use lawyer in Stamford.” Attorneys M. Anne Peters and Pamela Elkow are recognized under Environmental. Ms. Peters is ranked for the first time this year and is noted for “much experience with transactional remediation issues;” Ms. Elkow is praised for “providing excellent service in the environmental area.”

Carmody’s Litigation Group is ranked again for its general commercial litigation practice and noted for its “well-regarded practice with strength in a range of complex issues.” The publication highlights three attorneys, James K. Robertson, Jr., Anthony Fitzgerald and Trudie R. Hamilton. Mr. Robertson is noted for his “judgement and focus on the best way to resolve a dispute.” Mr. Fitzgerald is described as “very skilled in the courtroom, very thorough and business-minded” and Ms. Hamilton is recognized for her extensive trial record in defense of major civil litigation.

The Labor and Employment Group is noted for “a depth of litigation experience in claims concerning discrimination, retaliation and harassment, among other matters.” Chambers USA highlights three attorneys, D. Charles Stohler, Giovanna Tiberii Weller and Domenico Zaino, for their extensive experience in labor and employment matters. Mr. Stohler is recognized for “a very good, practical approach to problem solving.” Ms. Weller is described by her peers as “a fierce trial attorney and a litigator through and through” and Mr. Zaino is noted for counseling employers on the full range of employment issues, including regulatory and compliance training.
