Waterbury (February 14, 2013) --- Maureen Danehy Cox, a partner in Carmody & Torrance's litigation group, has been named one of the top female litigators in the country in a new legal publication.
Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Female Litigators in America aims to celebrate the contributions that women make to the legal profession and to highlight their work in the courtroom. The attorneys were selected for inclusion after extensive client and peer interviews. Maureen was one of only three Connecticut women attorneys chosen for inclusion in the publication.
Maureen primarily practices in the areas of utility, product liability, employment, commercial and land use litigation. In the course of her distinguished 30-year career, Maureen has litigated a wide variety of cases before Connecticut's state and federal courts, and has argued numerous appeals before Connecticut's Supreme and Appellate Courts and before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
“Maureen is one of our most talented, smart and dedicated litigators and deserves to be recognized for her many accomplishments,” said Carmody & Torrance’s Litigation Practice Group Leader Rick Street. “In addition to her success in the courtroom on behalf of our clients, Maureen is a mentor and role model for many of our junior attorneys and throughout her career she has worked to help make Carmody & Torrance a firm where women lawyers can thrive. We congratulate her.”
Maureen’s role as a mentor was recently recognized by Connecticut Bar Association’s Women in the Law Committee of the Young Lawyers Section when they named Maureen the winner of the 2013 Ladder Award, which is designed to honor a female attorney who has demonstrated exceptional leadership affecting women, particularly junior female attorneys.
