Rick Street is a partner and trial lawyer in the Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey's litigation department.  His focus is on understanding a client's challenges and delivering practical, efficient solutions for clients.  Rick has substantial experience in electric and gas utilities, generators, public agencies and large and small business in land use, catastrophic personal injury, fire and explosion, condemnations and construction litigation matters.  He has tried numerous cases to verdict in state and federal courts.  By understanding his client's business and goals, Rick is able to achieve successful outcomes in and out of the courtroom and minimize his client's  business and financial risks.

  • Part of team that obtained dismissal of $200 million federal court subrogation action against gas  transmission company arising from power plant explosion, argued motions that led to the dismissal
  • Integral member of team that successfully defended a public agency involved in a claim that a bridge contractor was wrongfully terminated.  It was believed to be the largest construction claim ever made against that agency
  • Prosecuted dozens of condemnation actions in state court on behalf of an electric utility to allow for the expansion of its infrastructure within Connecticut
  • Argued an appeal on behalf of an electric generation company that protected its project's lands from claims of adverse possession
  • Defended numerous fire, explosion wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases
  • Represented contractor in the resolution of numerous construction claims related to the construction of a cogeneration facility
  • Obtained the necessary regulatory approvals to allow for the reconstruction of a 115-kV electric transmission line by an electric utility
  • Led the successful eviction of a commercial marina from a hydropower project
  • Frequently represented clients before the Freedom of Information Commission and other administrative agencies
  • Selected for inclusion in Connecticut Super Lawyers, 2010-1012, 2014-2017
