The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development’s (DECD) Office of Brownfield Remediation and Development (OBRD) has announced the availability of $25 million in funding opportunities under the State’s Municipal Brownfield Grant and Targeted Brownfield Development Loan Programs and is inviting applications for proposals.

The deadline to submit applications is noon on Friday, September 27, 2024. Award announcement dates are tentatively set for November/December 2024.

The Municipal Brownfield Grant Program funding is available to municipal applicants for costs associated with investigating, remediating, and developing a “brownfield.”  DECD encourages public-private partnerships and has the ability to structure pass-through grants from eligible municipal applicants to private partner entities.  In this round, requests up to $4M may be made for remediation/limited assessment activities, and requests up to $200k for “assessment only” activities.

The Targeted Brownfield Development Loan Program is designed to provide low-interest loans for eligible costs of brownfield remediation projects to potential brownfield purchasers and certain current brownfield owners who are not directly responsible for property conditions and are seeking to revitalize such brownfield.

More information and details regarding these program and this funding round is available here.
